Design of Vacuum Viewports

Materials

There are a variety of coatings to enhance performance in CF, ISO or KF formats.
Standard viewports are made of borosilicate. This allows easy observation or illumination of the inside of the vacuum chamber. This in turn ensures reliable monitoring of the performance and function of the entire vacuum system.

Optical viewports are made in various materials such as: sapphire, fused silica, zinc selenide, magnesium fluoride, calcium fluoride, germanium and quartz crystal. The optical application will determine the desired spectral range and consequently the optical material required.
